There is a lot of anticipation for the 2025 Club World Cup, the first that will see the participation of as many as 32 teams.
FIFA, in these days, is making the regulations official, giving some directives on what the various teams will be able to do, on the roster and on the transfer market, as the event takes place from 15 June to 13 July 2025.
Within the regulations there is a particular directive from FIFA: "Clubs participating in the Club World Cup 2025 will have to commit to ‘play their strongest team throughout the entire Competition’.
This is the instruction FIFA has given to clubs that will take the field in the tournament that will be staged next summer in the USA.
In the regulations, published a few days ago, the International Federation of Association Football in fact explains: “All participating clubs will confirm their participation in the Competition by signing the Participation Agreement and all the required documentation,” according to the deadlines that FIFA itself will indicate at a later date.
"By signing the Participation Agreement, each participating club automatically undertakes to comply at all times with (and to ensure that each player, coach, manager, official, media officer, representative, guest and any other person performing functions on behalf of the participating club complies with) these Regulations and the FIFA Media and Marketing Regulations, the Laws of the Game, the FIFA Statutes and other FIFA Regulations, the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the FIFA Anti-Doping Regulations, the FIFA Code of Ethics and the FIFA Equipment Regulations".
Going into specifics, the clubs, by signing the Participation Agreement Participation Agreement, commit themselves to:
a) observe and respect, and ensure that their Delegation Members observe and respect, these Regulations and the principles of fair play;
b) observe and respect all applicable laws;
c) observe and comply with all reasonable instructions and decisions taken by FIFA bodies and officials in accordance with the terms of these Regulations;
d) field the strongest team throughout the Competition;
e) accept all the provisions relating to the Competition laid down by FIFA
f) accepting, within the limits set out in the FIFA Media and Marketing Regulations, the use by FIFA and/or the granting of a sub-licence by FIFA to third parties and the recording and broadcasting of the images, names and data of all Members of the Delegation that may appear in connection with the Competition;
g) ensure the provision of adequate insurance to cover Members of the Delegation and any other person performing functions on behalf of the Club against all risks, including but not limited to injury, accident, illness and travel, in accordance with relevant FIFA regulations".
