The Inter Milan defender told his story to the microphones of ‘105 Take Away’, an Italian radio programme.
A few minutes ago Matteo Darmian was the guest of Diletta Leotta and Daniele Battaglia in ‘105 Take Away’ on Italian radio programme.
Radio 105 is the official radio of FC Internazionale Milano and will be so until 2026.
These are some passages from his speech:
“It is the first time for me in radio, I am very excited.”
If you hadn't been a footballer, what would you have done?
Darmian replied: “When I was asked that question as a child, I don't know why but I answered pizza maker. But that's not really my forte.” (laughs).
"I have a good relationship with music, I like to listen to it, I like to vary genres of music even in training pitch, music is part of my life.
The DJs in our team are Çalhanoglu and Lautaro. Çalhanoglu plays us some very questionable Turkish strange music that is very different for us. Last year, his song became a must, it brought good.
My favourite artists are Ac/Dc, although you wouldn't know it.
When I was a bit younger and played in Padua I was with some of my teammates watching the film ‘Iron Man’ for which they signed the soundtrack.
By chance we then saw that they were going to be in concert in Udine; we went and from that moment I started following them."
Who was your idol when you were a kid?
Darmian replied: “Pupi Zanetti was someone to take inspiration from, but also Paolo Maldini, I did my youth sector there.”
The strongest opponent you've had the pleasure/ displeasure of facing?
“There have been many, certainly Hazard was very tough, he was very difficult to mark, at Chelsea it was unbelievable.”
"I'm very passionate about tennis. I play for passion. Federer I think was the strongest tennis player of all time, it was always great to watch him play."
Last season was crazy for you. When did you realise that?
Darmian: “During the season there were moments that made us realise that it was our year: I remember Verona in January, it was a heart-stopping game, but also the return match against Juventus at home, we gave an important break to the championship and from there we made a string of incredible victories that led us to the Scudetto victory.”
