Inter Milan are ready to get back in action with the away game at the Olimpico on matchday 8 of the Serie A season. On the eve of Roma vs. Inter Milan, Inzaghi spoke about the game to Inter TV:
How have the group worked to stay focused ahead of the away game tomorrow?
"The international break shouldn’t influence us, we had three wins, we need to continue on our path.
The lads have come back fairly well, we have certain players with small issues but we have worked well in the last two or three days, knowing that we get back underway with a difficult game against Roma at the Olimpico”.
Juric’s Roma is known for their intensity and high press. What have you focused on in training to prepare for such an aggressive side that want to keep control of the game?
"We know what kind of opposition they are. We’ve faced Juric many times over the years, he is bringing his mindset to Roma and we need to be ready to put in a good performance, both with and without the ball, important: we need a big Inter Milan”.
Certain players have shone for their national teams, how much influence could their form, both mental and physical, have on the restart?
"We’ve got many players who have played many minutes, others like Lautaro and Taremi who have flown far but come back in quite well, all except Zielinski who returned with a slight injury and will not play. Yesterday, Asllani picked up a slight knock to his knee and also won’t be available but Berenbruch will be in the squad, a promising talent from the Primavera, so we won’t have any issues”.
The new arrivals seem to have slotted in well. What has been the most important factor for them to adapt so quickly to the side’s system and mentality?
"They have integrated well thanks to the help from the lads who were here already. I am very pleased, some have played more than others but my aim is to ensure everyone can play at their best”.
Sinced Thuram has been at Inter Milan, he has played higher up and scored much more: has he picked up new skills or is he now getting the best out of what was already there?
"He continues to work well, this year as he did last year. His style of play hasn’t changed, there have been some tweaks in what we work on daily with the staff but the important thing is that he continues to work as he has done in the last year and a half”.
From now until the next international break, the calendar is packed with important games in the league and Champions League. How key will these games be for the course of the season and managing the energy of the squad?
"We know that we’re about to play seven games in 20 days so we need to do well but at the moment, the only concern for myself and the squad is to prepare well for the game against Roma tomorrow evening. We will try to draw on the entire squad knowing that many of the lads try to cause me and my staff trouble on a daily basis when making our selections”.
