Thomas Berenbruch

The 2005 midfielder, a pillar of the Nerazzurri's Primavera team, will be called up for the match against Roma

There is a big news in Inter Milan's call-up list for tonight's match against Roma at the Olimpic Stadium: due to the unavailability of Zielinski and Asllani, Inzaghi has chosen to bring with him Thomas Berenbruch, a midfielder born in 2005 and a pillar of the Nerazzurri's Primavera team.

A first for this young talent from Inter Milan's youth academy who, after having participated in the first team's summer training camp and also played a few friendly matches, will experience the atmosphere of Serie A up close.
But who is Thomas Berenbruch? And how does he play?
Youth football fans already know the answer to these questions.

The truth is that to describe this talented midfielder one simple sentence would suffice: he is the prototype of the player every coach would want.

Born as an offensive midfielder, Berenbruch has developed into a modern winger, who combines quality and quantity: left-footed, with great vision and an excellent basic technique, he guarantees support for the attackers in the offensive phase and balance in the defensive phase. To his personal baggage he adds a very good shot and the lungs of a marathon runner. Feet like an attacking midfielder and attitude like a leader: an example for his teammates, a gift for the coaches.

This, for Berenbruch, represents perhaps the most important season of his still very young career.

Remaining at Inter Milan to play with the Primavera team, despite the numerous offers he received in the summer, he was entrusted with the role of team leader, with the prospect of being able to break into the First Team in times of need.

Not to mention his fresh debut with Italy U20, the first step towards hoping for a call-up for the World Cup to be held in 2025.
Inzaghi appreciates him very much, as does the Nerazzurri management, who in February armoured him by signing a contract valid until 30 June 2028.

The next step will be a stable arrival in professional football: there is no shortage of clubs ready to step forward to have him on loan between Serie B and Serie C, but who knows if Berenbruch could be one of the protagonists of an eventual Inter Milan B team, an idea that is always current in Viale della Liberazione.

The more immediate future, meanwhile, will take him to the Olympic Stadium. And who knows, the dream of a first-team debut might soon come true.
