From the Dutch national team’s retreat, Stefan de Vrij, Inter Milan defender, spoke about the victory of Scudetto and the second star
After the Dutch national team’s retreat, Stefan de Vrij, Inter Milan defender, spoke again about the victory of Scudetto and the second star, before talking about the future.
Here are his words:
"The victory of the second star was really beautiful, it was very special.
Of course I had already become a champion (with Inter Milan), but it was during the Covid and as a result we did not play in full stadiums and we could not really celebrate with the supporters.
This time it was really special because it was the 20th Scudetto and so we won the second star. It is important for the society and for the fans".
"Milan has nineteen Scudetti, so it was a bit like: who will win the twentieth first?
In the end we won the title in the derby. It was a beautiful moment. Even as we celebrated. We drove across town by bus and it took us seven hours to travel five kilometres. There were fans everywhere".
"I went on holiday after the European Championship, so I was late for the preparation in this start of season. Then I got injured and then came the international break.
After that break I played the first game, but before I had not played any minutes for the previous two months and therefore I had no rhythm.
I am now fully fit, but of course I have not yet fully the pace of competition".
Do you have plan for the future?
"I’m fine at Inter Milan as long as I continue to play an important role.
It’s a top club that plays to win.
Back to Feyenoord? I can’t say yet. But my wife, for example, is not Dutch. So living in the Netherlands isn’t that obvious.
I don’t say that I would prefer to stay in Italy, but there are many things to consider when making a choice like this.
Because I still have a contract with Inter Milan and I’ll wait for what happens next, I’m not thinking about it yet. I’m focused on Inter Milan".
