Calhanoglu’s statement: "Balanced match, important draw"

The words of the Turkish midfielder, who scored the equalizer in the Coppa Italia derby.

It was his third goal in the derby, the first coming from open play: once again, the city derby bore the signature of Hakan Calhanoglu, crucial in securing a vital draw for Inter Milan ahead of the return leg of the semifinal. 

Against Milan, the Turkish playmaker scored his fourth goal of the season from outside the box with a powerful first-time shot: 

no Serie A player has done better than Calhanoglu across all competitions.

At the end of the first leg of the semifinal, Hakan spoke in post-match interviews:

“Today’s match was balanced: Milan had some chances, and so did we. In the second half, we pushed a little more, but we conceded a goal that we shouldn’t have allowed. However, today it was especially important not to lose, considering the return leg will be played. Now we need to focus on Parma; it’s a very important game for a great goal. We’ll think about the derby later, when it’s time to play the return leg of the semifinal.”
