Inzaghi's post-match comments following Inter Milan vs Crvena zvezda
Four goals and the first win for the Nerazzurri in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League
After the draw away at Manchester City in their opening match, Inter Milan secured their first victory in the UEFA Champions League 24-25.
At San Siro, the Nerazzurri claimed all three points against Crvena zvezda thanks to a brilliant free kick by Calhanoglu, Arnautovic's goal, a perfect finish from captain Lautaro Martinez, and Taremi's composure from the penalty spot.
After the match, head coach Simone Inzaghi shared his thoughts:
“The boys were great.
They played a serious game against a very defensive team that kept it tight at the back.
We moved the ball well and after Hakan opened the scoring, we had more chances through Mkhitaryan.
We conceded a couple of counter-attacks but the team handled it well, kept creating and after Arnautovic's second goal, everything went smoothly.
We wanted to build on the performance in Manchester and we did that. I'm satisfied because I saw the responses I was hoping for from the lads.
The players are giving everything and I have to make decisions. Taremi and Arnautovic deserved this opportunity and the positive responses came from everyone, which is very comforting for a coach.
We've worked hard over the past few days and listened little because we had to prepare for this game in a short time.
It'll be like this all year and I'm lucky to have a good squad. My job is to always make the best choices for the good of Inter Milan.
We worked on the pitch and studied video footage knowing we'd face a team that was in better shape than us.
The boys were excellent and now we need to find the consistency that’s fundamental for us.
Next, we need to prepare for the Torino game in the best possible way.”
