In the extensive critical analysis featured in today's La Gazzetta dello Sport, Arrigo Sacchi offered a detailed reflection on the main contenders for the Scudetto, with a particular focus on the reigning champions:

Inter Milan has a squad ready to compete both in the league and in the Champions League. I’ve been saying this for a while, and I believe the start of this season has confirmed it.

Simone Inzaghi has at his disposal players of high technical value and considerable international experience. For this reason, I think they can comfortably go all the way in both competitions.

The Nerazzurri are solid in defense, though perhaps they haven't displayed the same consistency as last season. However, I believe that by fixing a few minor details, they can return to that rock-solid backline that has always been a hallmark of Simone Inzaghi’s team.

Focusing on the recent struggles of the Nerazzurri's attack:

Up front, Lautaro is beyond question because, even though he hasn’t maintained the same scoring consistency as last season, he’s perfect as the focal point of Inter Milan’s attacking play.

The Argentine forward is a leader, and his teammates recognize him as such. In my opinion, Thuram is also beyond question. He’s a striker I admire greatly because he’s intelligent, understands the rhythm of the game, knows how to find space, attacks the gaps effectively, and always helps his teammates defensively.

Finally, a verdict on the midfield, the crucial area of play for the reigning Italian champions:

Probably the strongest department, with players of exceptional quality. The first thought goes to Calhanoglu, an outstanding playmaker who keeps the engine running smoothly, but we cannot forget players like Barella and Mkhitaryan.

In particular, Barella, after dealing with some physical issues, is bouncing back impressively, and he truly adds extra value to this team.

Frattesi, whenever he comes on, is always ready to contribute. As shown by his performances for the national team, he can be decisive with his runs into the offensive phase.
