Here’s an overview of who Luis Henrique is and how he plays

Henrique is on Inter Milan's radar. His arrival would be important for Inzaghi as he would provide a valid alternative to Dumfries.

Between the present and the future, while Simone Inzaghi and his team are fighting for an entire season over the next few weeks, the Inter Milan management has been working for some time to strengthen the squad. 

Among the names on Marotta and Ausilio's notebook is that of Luis Henrique. As reported by Sky Sport via Fcinter1908.it, the confirmation of interest in the Brazilian came from the presence of Medhi Benatia, the sporting director of Olympique Marseille, at the Coppa Italia derby at San Siro, where the player currently plays. Henrique has become one of the pillars of Marseille: he plays as a right wing-back in Roberto De Zerbi's 3-4-2-1 system. 

To understand his importance to the team, you just have to look at his numbers this season. 

So far, across Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France, the Brazilian has made 29 appearances, scoring 9 goals and providing 7 assists. Born in 2001, Henrique has managed to carve out an essential role, often being decisive for his team, which has made his value skyrocket. Marseille could ask for over 30 million euros (£25 million) for him. 

Henrique has different characteristics from Dumfries: less physicality, but more dribbling (1.5 successful, 59%) and speed in tight spaces, skills that Inzaghi’s squad lacks and which Inter Milan had hoped to find in Buchanan. 

Moreover, the Brazilian has occasionally been deployed on the left and uses his left foot with decent quality (two of his 9 goals have been scored with his left foot).

"He needs to train well. When he has the ball, he can be at 100%, but without it, he struggles to chase the opponent. I’m trying to help him understand this better so he can improve. 

He has the quality to score 7/8 goals. I’ve seen seriousness and commitment in him, and he deserves this opportunity," said Gennaro Gattuso (Italian former player) in February 2024 after Henrique returned from his loan at Botafogo, the club where he grew up.

Inter Milan need to strengthen the right flank. Darmian's season has confirmed, if there was any doubt, that an alternative to Dumfries should be one of Inter Milan's main targets for the future. 

Henrique is attracting attention from many other clubs, including Bayern Munich and Newcastle, with fierce competition. 

However, Inter Milan seems to have moved early, which could be a decisive factor in the success of the deal. Additionally, Henrique's agency is Roc Nation Sports, the same as Federico Dimarco's.
