Former Tomas Palacios coach Sebastian Balbì, interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, told about the qualities of the defender and also gave some advice to Inzaghi:
"He always aimed to play in Europe. It was his dream, and in the end he made it happen.

In General Pico if you don’t work in the factory you have two choices, play football or play basketball.

Tomas Palacios chose the football, but at first he preferred to be the striker. He was always very tall, more than all his peers, and this also linked a nice left-footed.

He could make a difference at the first touch of the ball. One like him noticed it immediately.

I was struck by his coordination in the movements. Despite being the tallest he could combine his physique and technique, so much so that during tournaments we often gave him the number 10.

He tried to score overhead kick every now and then... he did. He decided a game of a tournament. At first he was the striker or fantasista, then made the right outside, the middle and finally the central".
"There was no defender, Tomas was the tallest and offered to fill that role. It went so well that in the following matches he chose to continue in that position. He had talent." And ambition: "He has lived and worked for football since he was nine years old. His family is humble, distinguished, never intrusive. He always supported him silently from the stands, without ever interfering with a decision of the coach. At 16 he left his home town to move to Cordoba, 500 kilometres north".
The Nerazzurri will get to know a golden boy. And I give advice to Inzaghi: give him the freedom to dribble. He always knew how to do it"
