Farris: "We lacked energy, but we look to the future with confidence"

The words of the Inter Milan vice-coach, who sat on the bench at the Tardini in place of the suspended Simone Inzaghi.

It was a match with two faces for Inter Milan at the Tardini against Parma. The Nerazzurri created a lot in the first half and went ahead 2-0 thanks to goals from Darmian and Thuram, but in the second half, the Gialloblu scored two goals to secure a 2-2 draw.

A point that leaves a bit of disappointment for Massimiliano Farris, Inter Milan’s vice-coach, who was on the bench in Parma in place of the suspended Simone Inzaghi:

"We’ll need to analyze the match: in the first half, we were in control, but when we lowered our concentration, we allowed two chances on goal. We created situations, played well, and scored two goals. As for the energy levels – more mental than physical – it’s not always easy to approach every match with the same consistency for 90 minutes. 

There are so many commitments, and we came from an intense derby played on Wednesday. 

The proof is that we threw ourselves forward with heart after conceding the two goals, even though it was a bit disorganized, and in the end, we allowed Parma only one important chance. 

The games played are in the players' legs; we prepare for each match one at a time, but there are moments when some players might have some fatigue, and we try to safeguard them because avoiding injuries right now is essential. 

The team seemed in control; it wasn’t the substitutions that changed the match: it was Parma that grew a lot. We shouldn’t have allowed that spark that reopened the game. At this point in the season, it’s not easy for anyone to maintain consistency for 90 minutes. 

In the past, we’ve paid for something at the start of the second half, so our input at halftime was to start strong in the second half. In the first 10 minutes, nothing happened; we needed to be better in the episodes in the box. 

We’ll have to improve, but the great merit of this team is its ability to focus and prepare for one game at a time. It’s a shame about this draw, but we’ll get back on track. 

As for Bastoni, there doesn’t seem to be anything concerning; the substitution was necessary. We didn’t lose: now we’ll put this draw behind us with a bit of disappointment but also a lot of confidence in the future. We’re thinking about Bayern Munich because we earned the right to play this round of the Champions League."
