A midweek fixture away at Empoli, on an October evening that Tiago Tomás Palacios will cherish for years to come.

The unforgettable moment came in the 81st minute: Simone Inzaghi made his final substitution, bringing the 21-year-old Argentine defender on for Stefan De Vrij.

Palacios joined Inter Milan last August from Independiente Rivadavia, becoming the 52nd Argentine player in Nerazzurri history.

After two months of hard work, training, and learning from experienced teammates, his debut finally arrived.

During the 12 minutes he was on the pitch, from the 81st to the 90+3rd minute, Palacios was actively involved in Inter Milan’s possession game, playing 15 balls and completing all 14 of his passes.

These solid numbers highlight a debut he’ll remember, not just for his performance but for the emotions it brought:

“I’m thrilled to have played my first minutes in this shirt. I want to thank the staff and my teammates, who have always supported me. It was a surprise, I didn’t know I’d be playing, but I had hoped for it.

The coach told me to enjoy the moment and to keep the ball moving quickly. I understand the importance of this club and the greatness of Inter Milan’s history.

I’m learning a lot from these champions and want to make the most of this opportunity. Football in Argentina is completely different, but the key is to keep working hard and be ready”
