Ballon d'Or the list of 30 candidates: there are Lautaro and Calhanoglu
Yann Sommer on the list of goalkeepers candidates for the Yashin Trophy. The ceremony is scheduled for 28 October in Paris
Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu were included in the list of 30 candidates for the 68th edition of the Ballon d'Or, the prestigious award established by the French magazine France Football in 1956 and awarded to the best player of the year.
Alongside Lautaro and Calhanoglu, Yann Sommer has also been nominated: the number one Nerazzurri is among the ten candidates for the Trofeo Yashin, the award for best goalkeeper of the year.
The awards ceremony will be held on Monday 28 October at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
The men’s and women’s Golden Ball, the Kopa Award (best player U21), the Yashin Award (best goalkeeper), the Gerd Müller Award (best scorer of the season) and the awards for the Club of the Year, male and female.
In addition to the usual awards, two new awards will be introduced from the 2024 edition: the Men’s Coach of the Year Trophy and the Women’s Coach of the Year Trophy.
This is the third nomination for Lautaro Martinez at the Ballon d'Or.
The Nerazzurro captain finished 21st in 2021 and 20th in 2023.

The Ballon d'Or is awarded thanks to the votes of a panel of journalists, one per country for the top 100 teams in the FIFA ranking (and top50 for the FIFA ranking for women).
Each journalist creates his own shortlist in which are awarded: 6 points to the first, 4 to the second, 3 to the third, 2 to the fourth and 1 to the fifth.
The vote must cover the finished season, from August 2023 to July 2024 and the parameters that affect the choices are the performance of the player, the successes with the club, the behavior on the pitch and fair play.
