Inzaghi: "We played a great match. We are on an excellent path."
These were the words of the Inter Milan coach after the narrow victory over RB Leipzig in the fifth matchday of the Champions League
A win that came after an intense game:
Inter Milan won 1-0 at home against Leipzig in the fifth round of the Champions League, temporarily taking the top spot in the group with 13 points. The victory came thanks to an own goal by Lukeba in the first half.
At the end of the match, Simone Inzaghi commented:
"There's satisfaction because we knew the importance of the match. We were playing against a team that had zero points but is still a strong side.
Leipzig is a team with quality and excellent players, but we played a great game and suffered very little.
We're happy, but we know there's still a long way to go to make it into the top eight. There are still more games to play, but we've made an excellent run with four consecutive wins without conceding a goal, and we're really satisfied.
I was very cautious about this match, but we are a mature team, and we showed great respect for our opponents, knowing it wouldn't be easy.
The goal of everyone is to reach the final, but we know there’s a lot of competition, and with games every two days, I'm fortunate to have these players who are used to playing all the time, and there's great availability from them.
I saw an Inter Milan tonight that was fully in the game, always focused and with the right distances.
In the second half, having not scored the second goal in the last 20 minutes, we dropped back a bit, and they became more dangerous after the substitutions they made."
