Oaktree’s project, which involves a deep rejuvenation of the squad, has already begun. And in the summer, more money will be spent.

Inter Milan , according to President Beppe Marotta, will invest again in player signings next summer.

Oaktree’s project, which involves a major overhaul of the squad, started with the signing of Petar Sucic. €14 million (£11,6 million) was invested, plus €2.5 million (£2 million) in bonuses and 10% on any future resale.

A significant investment in a 21-year-old. But this is just the beginning. Inter Milan had been keeping an eye on Petar Sucic for months.

They observed him, followed him, studied him. They waited. Because between the end of last year and the beginning of 2025, the Croatian suffered an unfortunate metatarsal fracture that kept him off the field for nearly 100 days.

Meanwhile, Marotta and Ausilio took advantage of the situation, beating the competition. With an offer that was certainly not small: the base was around €14 million (£11,6 million), but Dinamo Zagreb could receive an additional €2.5 million (£2 million) (structured around team-related objectives, possibly extending to 2030), plus 10% of any future resale. And if Sucic were to "explode," that 10% could become a significant amount.

Sucic perfectly embodies Oaktree’s new market policy: he’s very young (21 years old, born in 2003), has plenty of room for improvement, and it doesn’t matter that his signing involved a considerable investment.

For profiles like Sucic’s, and to ensure a "green" future, Inter Milan is willing to spend. They’ve already done it for the Croatian and will do it again in the summer.
